Thyme is a small, aromatic shrub of the Lamiaceae family, native to southern Europe, particularly the Mediterranean region. Its uses were known to the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. It is a characteristic herb of Mediterranean cuisine, both for its leaves and flowers, as they are used to impart their intense spicy aroma to fish and meat dishes, sauces, soups, etc. In traditional medicine, thyme is used therapeutically for whooping cough, bronchitis, gastritis, laryngitis, upper respiratory congestion, and diarrhea.
It has been used to treat sore throats, tonsillitis, gum disease, rheumatism, and arthritis. It is also used as an ingredient in cleaning products and in aromatherapy. It is considered to act as a natural food preservative against fungi and bacteria.
Thyme is a species native to Greece, which is why its cultivation requires little intervention in the field and low energy consumption, while yielding essential oil of exceptional quality. It is harvested at the stage of full bloom, and the parts of the plant that are harvested are the flowering tops. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation.

It is known for its antimicrobial and expectorant properties, which is why it is often used in treatments for cold and flu symptoms, as well as oral cavity infections. Also important are the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of the essential oil and its overall support of the immune system.
Oral use: Dilute 1 drop in a glass of water or tea to strengthen the respiratory and immune systems. Oral use should only be undertaken after consulting a healthcare professional.
