Eucalyptus camaldulensis (English name: River red gum), known as the red gum of the river, is an evergreen flowering tree belonging to the Myrtaceae family. As an endemic species of Australia, it is widespread along its rivers. Due to its natural adaptation to both temperate and tropical climates, E. camaldulensis is planted in arid and semi-arid regions around the world.
The species was used by the indigenous population of Australia for medicinal purposes, including digestive disorders such as colic, diarrhea, etc., respiratory diseases such as colds, coughs, asthma, pharyngitis, sore throats, as well as relief from pain caused by open wounds and cuts, as well as myalgia and joint pain.
Aboriginal people have used the leaves of E. camaldulensis and their essential oil for centuries in traditional medicine because of their antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Today, the essential oil of E. camaldulensis is used in perfumery and in cleaning and personal care products.
The essential oil is produced from the leaves through a process of steam distillation. Many substances found in essential oil are used in the perfume industry, such as α-phellandrene and β-phellandrene and 1,8 cineole (eucalyptol).
At Alembicon, we produce eucalyptus essential oil from trees that we have planted on our farm, so that we can monitor the cultivation and control every stage of the process until the final product reaches your hands. At the same time, by adopting the principles of organic farming, we can guarantee that the product we put on the market is natural, free from pesticides, and of exceptional quality.
