the company
Alembicon began, when a small group of young scientists began designing and setting up a multifunctional farm in an initial attempt to complement their scientific training with practical experience of working the land.
We planted fruit trees, superfood bushes, vegetable gardens, grains, and herbs, with the vision of gaining knowledge about how to cultivate a large number of productive species.
Over the years, all the crops began to yield healthy food.
At the same time, experimentation with the medicinal plants of the Mediterranean flora began—and that was the point that changed the course of our history.
We were captivated by the charm of aromatic and medicinal plants, and we were enthralled by the study of the boundless wealth of Greek and global flora.
The journey had already begun.
The initial motivation for our experiential engagement with the land remains the center that connects and motivates us. We maintain the belief that each of our products is the result of our personal relationship with nature.
We belong to the Earth — not the other way around. This understanding guides our long and invigorating journey in the research process of production.
We are passionate about production, exploring the constant interaction between the human factor and nature.
We are deeply convinced that in order to produce valuable products, we must know them both scientifically and experientially.
Applying scientific literature in the field and in the laboratory rewards us with personal fulfillment and our customers with the guarantee of a very specific process.
We continue to view our products as the result of hard work, self-reliance, and research, rather than as commodities.
The natural form of the final product is a testament to our natural relationship with it.

My name is Malamas Sotiriou.
I hold a PhD in Chemistry and have many years of experience in research and teaching.
As a research associate at academic institutions, I have gained experience in organizing experimental procedures and using multiple analytical devices.
At the same time, however, alongside my academic pursuits, I developed an independent interest in the extraction of plant materials, which led me, through successive experiments, to a gradual return to my roots — to the fields of our family farm in Melissochori, Thessaloniki.
So, after years of parallel bibliographic study, designing experimental approaches, and organoleptic tests with my brother, Mario, I decided to move my chemical laboratory in situ to a living field of activity, surrounded by aromatic plants — and so Alembicon was founded in 2021.
The unique location of our laboratories, at the heart of plant production, allows us to combine traditional planting techniques with modern scientific methods of analysis, achieving the highest quality from start to finish of the production process.
At Alembicon, we treat every part of our fields as both a living ecosystem and a scientific laboratory.
We take samples and analyze them on site, ensuring that each product is grown to the highest possible quality.
My name is Marios Sotiriou.
I am an agronomist from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in organic production.
My involvement with herbs began when I completed my academic studies, through my own personal experiments in the field, as well as my participation in seminars and workshops on aromatic and medicinal plants.
I traveled to cities in Greece and abroad to learn about traditional methods of herb cultivation and processing, and I devoted myself to experimenting with dozens of crop species for over a decade.
During my many years of professional involvement in organic production, I gained knowledge about the process of producing quality products.
In 2021, my brother, Malamas and I founded Alembicon and since then I have been responsible for the production side of the process, which includes studying cultivation techniques and organizing production—from planting to the first organoleptic tests.
At Alembicon, we actively participate in the processes of nature—we plant, tend the fields, cultivate, and harvest—cultivating a deep relationship with the natural world, which is reflected in each of our products.
